(Situation: at the afternoon day, Santi
playing guitar in her room at her boarding house, then Ahlam, her friend come
close to her and they start discussing a personal topic; their reactions to new
shoes)
1 A :
Hey:::
, Look at ME! Don’t you look something different from me? (Santi stop playing guitar)
2 S :
Umm....No. (looking
to Ahlam’s face)
3 A :
Look at my FOOT! (then, Santi move her see to Ahlam’s foot)
4 S :
Wow (0.3) Your new shoes is so GREAT!
5 A :
Thanks:: , I like it’s design and color.
6 S : The color is so nice. Where did you
buy that shoes? (with her curiousity)
7 A :
I order it at “Monk Shoes.” There are so many models and colors.
8 S :
How can I order it? I really really like it. (enthusiastic)
9 A :
You can order to Mr. Ayok. He is the owner of “Monk Shoes” shop.
10 S :
Do you have his phone // number?
11 A :
//Yes, I have.
12 S :
How can I see the design of the shoes? (0.2) Is there any catalogue?

How about it costs?
15 A : There are variations of costs. If you
order women’s shoes like wedges or high
heels,
it cost depends on it’s high. But, usually the average of it cost is 200
thousand rupiahs.
16 S :
Ouch My God::: It’s REALLY expensive. (surprise)
17 A : Yeah, I really agree with you. I’ve save
my money for a month to buy this shoes. But, the price is suitable with the quality
of the product.
18 S : Okay, thanks for your information.
Anytime I will order it... but if I had enough money.
Conversation analysis :
“A” is type of arrogant people, she
likes to show up. Because when she has something new, she show it to her friend
and tell how expensive it is. And “S” is type of curious person, she also type
of person that want to have what her friend have. Because, when “A” show her
new wonderful shoes, she looks very interesting and want to have that shoes
too.
From conversation above, A coming to S to show up
her new shoes. Then, S stop playing guitar when looks A come to her room. A
show her little arrogance when come to S, it provide by lengthening vocal
“hey:::” (as in 1) when she call her friend to get her friend’s attention and
supported as in her stressing tone “ME” (as in 1) that indicate that she has
arrogance. S looking at A’s face and
feel confuse because she don’t look something different. A answering so
enthusias, it shown from her stressing word “FOOT” (as in 3). S looks amazed
with A’s new shoes and speechless for awhile, that shown at word “wow (0.3)”
(as in 4). Then she aware from her speechless and show her amaze with stressing word “GREAT” (as in 4). Then, A feel proud of
her new shoes about it’s design and color, it shows at lengthening word “thanks::”
(as in 5). S is very interest about that new shoes and feels so curious, she
asks where A buy that shoes and then A tells where she buy that shoes. S shows
her enthusiastic, it supported with replying word “really really” (as in 8).
With a little girly, A explain how she can order the shoes. A knows what S want
to ask and answer S’ curiousity, it shown by overlapping “//Yes, I have” (as in 11). S continue her
curiousity and ask again and again, she is very enthusias it provide by pause
in a dialogue “How can I see the design of the shoes? (0.2) Is there any
catalogue?” (as in 12). Before A answer her first question, pause in 2 second
then she continue for her second question. Heard that question, A answer it
quickly and also tells about it cost. Then, S feel surprise when she heard
about it costs, itprovide by her lengthening vocal “Ouch My God:::” (as in 16).
She shows her unbelievable about the price of the shoes, this is supported as
in her stressing tone “REALLY” (as in 16). She feel so surprise because she
still don’t believe that she must pay that price just for the shoes. A agree
with S’ opinion but then she explain that the price is suitable with the
quality of the product. At last, S thanks to A about the information and with
uneasy words she say that anytime she will order the shoes, it supported as in
her hesitation “Anytime I will order it... but if I had enough money” (as in
18). With the hesitant, she said that anytime she will order the shoes then she
continue if she had enough money.
